Ginger Bakers is a wholesale manufacturer of cakes and bakes. They produce an extensive range of cakes, tray bakes and free-from ranges, supplying cafes and delis across the UK.
As part of the company’s growth strategy, Ginger Bakers is exploring potential to export overseas. Before any investment decisions are made, a Lancaster University student has been tasked with investigating the potential for overseas sales, developing a business model by which to operate in. The company’s commitment to maintaining a sustainable business approach is being kept in mind during the development of this strategy.

Ginger Bakers is able to undertake this research free of charge through Eco-Innovation Cumbria, a £2.1m research and innovation programme for SMEs to deliver innovation for a better environment. On offer is business led research projects of up to 1 year in duration with dedicated researchers, students and academics.

Eco-Innovation Cumbria is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund and is a partnership between the University of Cumbria, Lancaster University and the University of Central Lancashire.
